C&T presents a number of attractive career opportunities to individuals seeking technically oriented work in the test and measurements field. C&T follows a policy of hiring entry-level workers and promoting within whenever possible. From time to time positions at more advanced levels in the organization are opened to those outside C&T. We advertise positions here, in the SF Chronicle, and at employment agencies in the Bay Area.

Working at C&T is a small company experience; locally owned with a staff of 60-70 individuals at one laboratory we are a close-knit group. We strive to create a positive working experience and turnover is very low relative to other businesses of our type. C&T is a growing organization and we generate about 3-6 new positions every year.

Compensation for positions is competitive and comparable to other technical positions in the test and measurement field. In addition to competitive compensation, all full time staff earn benefits including health, vision, life and dental insurance, paid vacation/sick days, 401k retirement program with 25% contribution matching.

Career Opportunities include:

Lab Technicians:

These positions involve laboratory support work such as facilities management, waste collection treatment and disposal, dishwashing, sampling media preparation, and sample pick-up/delivery.

Analysts:

These positions typically require HS graduation and two years of college with a lab science emphasis, e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Zoology, Microbiology, Earth Sciences, Geology, Medical or Biomedical Technician programs. We prefer to hire individuals with BA or BS degrees in the Sciences because we promote analysts to chemists.

Chemists:

These positions typically require a BA or BS degree (experience can be substituted) in one of the sciences. Advanced technical training and/or operator experience in chemical measurement instrument systems such as GC, GC/MS, ICP-MS, and ICP-AES.

Group Leaders and Department Managers:

These supervisory and managerial positions requiring thorough technical knowledge of the group (2-5 people) or department (5-15 people) field (eg GC/MS, GC, or spectroscopy) as well as a keen desire and demonstrated ability to succeed through managing the efforts of others.

Project Managers:

These positions encompass the interface between the lab and it's clients and involves translating client's needs into services provided by the lab. Knowledge of the broad range of testing requirements and applicability of test procedures to regulations and clients needs for data quality requires 4-8 years experience working in labs similar to C&T.
